Record, plan and replay
GPS locations.
Location Studio is a GPS tool for developers, testers and power users: record real GPS traces, plan routes on a map, and replay them as mock location for other apps to use.
GPS trace recording
A foreground service records your location into a GPX file while the screen is locked. Each trace shows its name, date, distance, duration and point count.
Mock location replay
Replay a saved trace as mock location, or set a static mock pin anywhere on the map with a long press.
Route planning
Tap waypoints on the map to build a road-snapped route. Choose Walk (5 km/h), Cycle (20 km/h), Drive (60 km/h) or Fly (800 km/h) to set the replay speed.
GPX import and export
Import existing GPX files with the system file picker and replay or view them next to your recorded traces. Import is a Premium feature.
Map view
Traces and routes are drawn as lines with start and end markers, with a follow mode during replay and a stats card for distance, duration and points.
- Install the app. Open Location Studio and follow the built-in guide.
- Turn on Developer Options. Enable them in your phone settings.
- Select the mock location app. Choose Location Studio under Select mock location app, then start a replay.
Free, with optional Premium
Free: up to 3 saved traces and 10 route calculations a day. Premium, a one-time purchase: unlimited saved traces, 100 route calculations a day, GPX import and no ads.
Handled with care
Recording and replay stay on your device. Route planning sends your waypoints to the Mapbox Directions service to get a route, and ads are served by Google AdMob unless you buy Premium. Read the privacy policy.
