Overview

UPnP Scanner is an Android app that discovers and displays UPnP/DLNA devices on your local network. This policy explains what data the app accesses and how it is handled.

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not ourselves collect, store, or transmit personally identifiable information (PII). Limited data is received by the third-party services described below (Google AdMob and Google Play) under their own privacy policies. Specifically:

  • Network scan results stay entirely on your device
  • Device names, IP addresses, and UPnP metadata are never sent to any server
  • No account, login, or registration is required
  • No usage analytics or crash reporting is collected by us

Local Network Access

The app requires access to your local Wi-Fi network to perform UPnP discovery. This access is used solely to send and receive UPnP multicast packets within your network. No data leaves your device as a result of this activity.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

The app displays ads served by Google AdMob unless you buy ad removal. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized ads in accordance with Google's privacy policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising, or reset your advertising ID, in your device's Android settings (Settings, Google, Ads).

Ad Removal Purchase (Google Play Billing)

The app offers an in-app purchase that removes ads. Purchases are processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We do not receive or store any payment information. Purchase data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

Permissions

The app requests the following permissions:

  • INTERNET — for network sockets used to talk to devices on your network, to load ads and to process the purchase
  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE — to detect the active network interface
  • CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE — to enable UPnP multicast discovery
  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE — to check network availability
  • WAKE_LOCK — to keep the UPnP service running during scans
  • BILLING — to process the ad removal purchase through Google Play

Retention and Deletion

The app does not keep a history of scanned devices on any server. Uninstalling the app removes its data from your device. The app is not directed at children under 13. If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
