Overview
SimShield is an Android call-blocking app. It works entirely on-device — no account is required and no data ever leaves your phone. This policy explains what the app accesses and how that data is handled.
Data We Do Not Collect
SimShield does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. Specifically:
- Your blocklist and blocked call history are stored only on your device
- No data is sent to any external server
- No account, login, or registration is required
- No analytics, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs are included
- The app has no network features of its own: the only network access is Google Play, used for the one-time purchase (see Free Trial and Purchase below)
Data Stored on Your Device
The app stores the following data locally only:
- Phone numbers you choose to always block or always allow, each for one SIM or both
- Countries you choose to block or to accept calls from
- Quiet hours windows and Block all settings for each SIM
- A log of calls that were blocked, including phone number, timestamp, SIM slot and the reason
- Your in-app settings, such as theme and notification preferences
- The date your free trial started and whether the app has been unlocked
- A short note about how the most recent call was screened (the time, which SIM, and whether it was allowed or blocked, never the phone number), shown in Settings
This data never leaves your device unless you use the manual backup feature, which exports your configuration as a JSON file to your device's Downloads folder. That file remains on your device and is not transmitted anywhere by the app. You can also export the blocked-call list as a CSV file, which is saved or shared only where you choose. If device backup is turned on in your Google account, Android may include the app's data in that backup; this is controlled by you and Google, not by SimShield.
Permissions
The app requests the following Android permissions:
- Call screening role — lets the app reject a call before the phone rings; Android asks you to choose SimShield as your caller ID and spam app
- READ_PHONE_STATE — to know which SIM a call arrives on, so rules can differ per SIM, and to show your SIM names
- READ_PHONE_NUMBERS — to show your own number next to each SIM
- READ_CONTACTS (optional) — to show a contact's name next to a phone number
- POST_NOTIFICATIONS (optional) — to tell you when a call was blocked and when the free trial ends
- BILLING — to let Google Play handle the one-time purchase
None of the data accessed through these permissions is transmitted off your device. Where Android allows it, the app also checks Android's system block list; this needs no extra permission.
Third-Party Services
SimShield does not use advertising networks, analytics platforms, crash reporting or cloud services. The only third-party component is Google Play Billing, which Google provides for in-app purchases.
Free Trial and Purchase
SimShield is free to use for 3 days after you first open it. After that, blocking stops and calls ring normally until you unlock the app with a one-time in-app purchase. The trial start date is stored on your device. The purchase is handled by Google Play: Google processes your payment and purchase data under its own privacy policy, and SimShield only learns whether the purchase is valid. SimShield does not receive your payment details or your Google account name.
Children's Privacy
The app does not target children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 13.
